BBC’s Peaky Blinders returning with two new series
The new series will “tell the story of a new generation of Shelbys” and will once again be written by Steven Knight.
The two new series will be produced by Kudos for BBC iPlayer and BBC One and will once again be filmed and set in Birmingham.
Teasing the series, the BBC said: “Britain, 1953. After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel.
“In a new era of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders, the race to own Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions.
“This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger: with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart.”
Peaky Blinders creator and writer Steven Knight, said: “I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story.
“Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz.
“The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride.”
Will Cillian Murphy return to Peaky Blinders?
After revealing that the sixth series would be the last, Steven Knight clarified that, a feature-length movie would be produced instead of a seventh television series, with other connected series potentially following.
When Peaky Blinders won the Returning Drama award at the 2022 National Television Awards ceremony, Knight confirmed during his acceptance speech that film would begin production in mid-spring 2023, but would later be delayed.
In June 2024, the Peaky Blinders film was confirmed by Netflix with Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Thomas Shelby.
Production began in September 2024 under the title The Immortal Man.
