The Loughborough-based sprint star, 25, heads to the upcoming showpiece in New Delhi bidding to emulate the exploits that saw his storm to a stunning Paralympic gold in Tokyo.
Since then, the T38 runner admits he has not won the number of races he would have liked to but heads to India off the back of recent triumphs at the UK Championships in Birmingham and Diamond League meet in Silesia.
Young won world silver in Kobe last year and hopes to use that experience to propel himself to the top of the podium in sweltering sub-continental conditions this time around.

“We wanted to go a bit quicker in our races but for some reason, I didn’t get a good start in Poland and it wasn’t ideal weather in London,” said Young, speaking from the British pre-championships holding camp in Dubai.
“We’ve been running really quickly in training but for some reason races haven’t gone our way.
“We know I’m in quick shape – me and all my other rivals in Delhi are on the same track and heat, so it should be a really good race to see where I’m at.
“It’s been perfect [in Dubai] – really good, nice weather and a relaxed camp.
“We’ve been trying to base our season around Delhi – if the weather in London was better I could have gone a bit quicker, but all I need to do is keep training.
“If I’m running quick in training I can run fast in races.
“I was second in Kobe and fourth at the Paralympics last summer – but my goal is to always go there to win and gold.”
Young is one of over 30 British athletes descending on New Delhi this month, with the team now sponsored by official finance partner Novuna.
That collaboration also included British athletes at the recent World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, at the very same stadium where Young catapulted himself to stardom with that memorable Paralympic gold in 2021.
The East Midlands-based star is candid about his exploits ever since but hopes to recreate that precocious form in another Asian nation this week.
“It was cool watching a lot of the Olympic guys out at the same stadium last week,” he added.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling looking back to it [Paralympics].
“I probably haven’t won as many races as I’d have planned to since then but now I’m back into that mindset where I’m really excited to compete and be on the top of the podium.
“Me and my training team know it’s going to be tough – but that’s the new reality of para-sport.
“It’s going to be tough but we want to be the best in the world in a really competitive category.”
