Helmingham Hall Illuminated trail named among UK's best

During the festive season in the lead up to Christmas, the gardens at Helmingham Hall are transformed into a spectacle of light, sound, and colour.

It reopens again this year on Friday, November 14, and will run until Friday, November 19.

With new installations, the trail takes visitors through glowing walkways and across the historic drawbridge.

The Times has named it as one of the best light trails to visit in 2025.

The newspaper said: “The ancient, moated wonderland in the peaceful countryside has gardens that are seriously worth seeing from May to September as well as at Christmas.

“Kick off with free mulled wine in Helmingham’s centuries-old courtyard before following a mile-long trail over the drawbridge, through the Knot Garden, parterre, and avenue of apple trees into the wilder meadows and woodlands.

“Sounds and lighting match the different areas to enhance the garden’s natural loveliness.”

Visitors will also be able to enjoy street food and drink, and the Stable Shops will be open selling unique gifts.

Tickets for the Illuminated Garden Trail start from £20 for adults and £10 for children.
