Hyndburn Council gets good review from UK town hall bosses

A team of experienced councillors and senior officers from across the UK conducted the review in October.

Hyndburn Council leader Cllr Munsif Dad gave details of their return visit to the authority when its cabinet met on Wednesday.

He said: “We are very grateful to them for returning to assess our progress and for the constructive feedback they provided.

“We are awaiting their written report, which will set out their full assessment of progress since the main visit last year.

“However, we are pleased to report that the verbal feedback we received on the day was overwhelmingly positive.

“The team highlighted excellent progress on our key strategic projects and noted how well these align with our new Corporate Strategy.

“They gave particular credit to the work we have undertaken on staff engagement this year, which is already delivering positive outcomes.

“They also recognised our work on community cohesion, our communications with staff around local government reorganisation, and the progress we are making on climate change and decarbonisation.

“Our transformation and digital work was also highlighted as leading to real improvements.

“The team acknowledged that there is still more to do.

“And indeed, our cross-party working group action plan sets out a number of further steps, some of which are scheduled for later this year..

“It was encouraging to hear that the team regard our direction of travel as positive.”
