IKEA introduces £2 charge for click-and-collect service

The home and furniture chain will add this charge on for shoppers when they order online to collect in one of their branches.

However, those who are IKEA Family members will avoid this £2 cost and get the service for free.

An IKEA spokesperson said: “We believe in transparent pricing and continue to invest in our services to expand our delivery options and click and collect locations to provide increased choice and convenience for our customers.

“To make our delivery and collection services financially sustainable, Click and Collect has seen the introduction of a £2 fee for non-IKEA Family members.

“IKEA Family, which is free to join, offers members free collection across all Click and Collect options, including in-store collections, at mobile pick-up points from Tesco car parks or DPD and locker pick-up points.”

Some shoppers have picked up on this change, and aren’t too happy with the new add-on charge.

Posting to X (formerly known as Twitter), one person posted: “@IKEAUK since when have you started charging for using click and collect?! I get there is a business cost but really come on”.

Asda and Sainsbury’s offer it for free, but you need to spend at least £25 and £40 respectively, otherwise a £4 charge is levied.

Meanwhile, Tesco’s costs for click-and-collect range from having the potential to be free to up to £2, depending on the shopper’s location.

For Morrisons, charges for the service vary depending on store location, time and other factors.
