10 Key Fashion Trends for Fall 2025

10 Key Fashion Trends for Fall 2025

And just like that the seasonal change is upon us. It may seem like just a few months ago that we saw the fashions for the season ahead (Fall/Winter 2025) sent down the runways, with the visuals to follow, and now the time has come to integrate the new shapes, silhouettes, accessories, and archetype revisions into our wardrobes. With seemingly boundless inspiration to follow, we distilled the key trends to implement, with an eye for the styles we return to perennially as part of our aesthetic evolution. Here, the 10 trends to shop and wear for the best time of year to get dressed: autumn.

Heritage Escapism

The horse girl and classic equestrian notions make their perennial appearances on the runways, of course, but the notion of heritage and escapism could not be shaken whether on the runways at Burberry, where jacquard-woven velvet damask got a bohemian revise, or at Gucci, where the horsebit and the brand’s archetypes were updated and infused with a twinge of sexiness. The key: in the classic notions of escape (the British countryside, for example) were blended with nonchalance. Timeless tartan, but with swooping pins and layers, and an air of passing through without much attachment. This old thing? It’s all in how you wear it.

Chemena Kamali’s Chloé sets the new tone of romantic femininity, and as is key with most of the trends this season, its expression is in layers. Swirling sheer silhouettes with stacks of jewels piled on, and a velvet jacket? You can’t go wrong. Or, look to Joseph Altuzarra’s complex and intellectual vision of romance, where the soft and ethereal is evoked with voluminous and flowing silhouettes that offer just the right amount of sheer and see-through vulnerability, mixed with tasteful restraint. Case in point: the best way to accessorize these looks? A flat shoe.

If you were watching the runways, whether Coach or Simone Rocha, you would have anticipated the explosive popularity of the Labubu. Words I cannot believe I am typing, yet here we are. The key is a sense of play. Furry friends that add comfort and innocence in contrast to the oh so serious, maybe even bleak world. Should a furry charm not be your style, pastel bow embellished accessories, and really anything imbued with a sense of whimsy and childlike wonder will surely do the trick.

If there is one thing to know for the upcoming chilly season, it’s that fur (whether faux, shearling, vintage, or otherwise) is back in a major, major way. While brands like Fendi leaned into their heritage, Simone Rocha offered the soft and fluffy texture with a bit of edge as accoutrement. If new outerwear may feel like too much, their accessories offerings are where this trend really shines.

Thom Browne

Just in time for the Preppy Handbook’s 45th anniversary, classic sportswear and scholarly classics are given a hint of dissidence. Think: Thom Browne and Miu Miu, where layering of patterns and textures and knits galore gave the key pieces, whether plaid skirts, blazers, cardigans, or the simple collared shirt, a youthful insouciance.

It’s all in the accessories, particularly this season, where hats and gloves were fashioned beyond their functional benefit. The best way to take things to the next level? Maybe a pillbox hat, or perhaps a pair of dramatic gloves a la Michael Kors, will do the trick.

Summer’s over and if you’re not back to school, then it’s back to reality. And that means, back to the office. Sleek suiting and feminine classics were given a hint of seduction and a whole lot of larger than life ‘80s details. Strong shoulders to wear to that board meeting, courtesy of Calvin Klein.

In contrast to the diaphanous and feminine, there is also a more haunting and brooding means of expressive dressing, as seen at Dior. Dramatic capes, rich velvets, lace, ruffles, and modest juxtapositions all lend to a rich visual and offer umpteen ways to express one’s aesthetic individuality. Just don’t forget your copy of Frankenstein.

If you’re not reaching for creatures of comfort, then perhaps a bit of wild thing infusion is the route. Feline calf hair pencil skirts at Khaite or oh so sumptuous embossed snakeskin pairings make for both neutral textural infusions, but also a statement of essential feral magnetism.

It’s all in the movement, as they say. Spike sequined gowns for some (looking at you, Jil Sander), fringed details at others, and of course, swooping scarfs on coats still reign supreme. Or you could go the way of Proenza Schouler or Ferragamo and weave in gesticulation via artful draping. No matter what, pieces that imbue your look with a hint of undulation are what will bring your outfit into the current moment.
