Koraput: Jeypore town police on Saturday handed over 17 missing mobile phones to their rightful owners after tracing and recovering them from different locations. Police said complaints regarding the loss of the mobile phones had been lodged by their owners on the CEIR portal (www.ceir.gov.in). Acting on these complaints, the police launched an operation and successfully recovered the devices.“The original owners had lost their mobiles mostly in transit and had lodged complaints in the CEIR portal. The lost mobiles were traced, recovered and handed over to them,” said Ullas Chandra Rout, IIC of Jeypore town police station.According to Rout, the operation was carried out with the support of the cyber cell and technical team. “technical surveillance and tracking methods, the team traced the phones to different locations and recovered them after sustained efforts,” he said.Police officials said the initiative is part of their continuing efforts to improve public service and safety. All 17 mobile phones were verified before being returned to their owners. Police have appealed to the public to report missing or stolen mobile phones through the CEIR portal (www.ceir.gov.in) or the Sanchar Saathi portal for quicker tracking and recovery.
