Xabi Alonso pushes for new signing as Madrid seek playmaker solution

Real Madrid’re working on strengthening their midfield in the current summer transfer window following direct request from head coach Xabi Alonso.

The team lacks natural playmaker and Alonso’s urged the club to bring in creative option to complete his squad.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Madrid’re studying the possibility of signing Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace. The 20 year old has impressed in the Premier League catching the attention of the Spanish giants.

Crystal Palace are reportedly demanding no less than 80 million euro for Wharton .. a figure that Madrid may only afford if they complete major sale this summer.

Should the deal prove too difficult, Alonso could instead rely on Arda Güler in the playmaking role or give Dani Ceballos more opportunities.

Another solution could see youngster Dean Huijsen deployed in defensive midfield role with Trent Alexander Arnold pushed further forward as creator.
