Virgin Atlantic flight attendant Kathryn Scott, 44, was four times over the alcohol limit and had to be removed from a plane at Heathrow Airport after drinking wine the night before, a court heard
A flight attendant who arrived to work four times over the alcohol limit was removed from a plane at Heathrow Airport after crashing her car on the way there, a court has heard.
Virgin Atlantic employee Kathryn Scott, 44, was led off the plane at Heathrow after she admitted to drinking wine the night before. Scott crashed her black Hyundai at a roundabout on the way to the airport, left her car at the scene and was then driven to work by a member of the public, Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court was told.
She appeared at court on Tuesday wearing a black jacket and trousers, where she denied a single charge of performing an aviation function when over the alcohol limit on June 12. Her crash was reported to the police and she was then removed from the plane until officers arrived, the court heard.
Scott admitted she had been involved in an accident earlier that day, and said she had two glasses of wine eight hours before the flight. A test showed she had 91 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, more than four times the 20 milligram legal limit for flight attendants in the UK.
The court heard Scott has been diagnosed with a liver condition, which means she may not be able to break down alcohol in the usual way. The 44-year-old also put the car crash down to a problem with her car’s steering, it was said.
Scott, of Ottershaw, Surrey, was bailed to appear at the same court for trial on December 11.
