FLINT, MI – The annual 810 Day celebration is returning to downtown Flint on Sunday, Aug. 10, bringing an afternoon and evening full of live music, local fashion, food trucks and community pride.
The free event will take place from 2-10 p.m. at Manhattan Park, located at 401 Martin Luther King Blvd.
Now in its fourth year, the celebration aims to uplift Flint talent and businesses, with a focus on fashion and the arts. Nine local designers are expected to participate in this year’s fashion show, which begins at 5 p.m.
“The significance is getting our local designers and talent showcased and spotlighted on a big stage,” said event organizer Adriana Lanice. “We want all of our community to come out and see and shop with their local people.”
General admission is free, with seating for the fashion show beginning at 4 p.m. VIP tickets are available for $45 and include reserved seating by the runway.
The day’s schedule begins with gates opening at 2 p.m., along with food trucks, bounce houses and music from DJ Woo Beatz.
The Hamady Marching Band is set to perform at 2:20 p.m., followed by music acts King Ca$hes and Laila Bug at 2:45 p.m.
Tracy Palmer will deliver an anti-bullying speech at 3:15 p.m., and Taylor Tatum will perform at 3:45 p.m.
The 810 Day concert begins at 8:10 p.m., with closing statements scheduled for 10 p.m.
“Every single year it gets bigger and bigger,” Lanice said. “It shows me people are starting to take pride in their city and that we do have quality things they can enjoy.”
810 Day Concert at the Capitol Theatre
As part of the festivities, Eballer Touring presents the 810 Day Legendary Concert Edition at 8 p.m. Sunday at the FIM Capitol Theatre in downtown Flint.
The concert will feature performances by The Dayton Family, Top Authority, Jake the Flake, and a special appearance by 8Ball & MJG.
A tribute to Flint rap legend MC Breed is also planned, with more artists to be announced.
Tickets start at $50 and are required for entry to the show.
A VIP add-on is available, which includes complimentary food and drinks from 6:30-9 p.m., plus a meet-and-greet with select artists, held in the Capitol Theatre’s exclusive Blackbox space.
Block party
Local restaurants are also getting in on the 810 Day celebration, including what’s become a staple for diners.
Spectacular Spudz, located at 131 Second St., will hold the Spudz block party from 2-8:10 p.m. on Sunday.
The block party will include free hot dogs, ice cream, carnival games, inflatable obstacle course, and a mechanical bull.
Music will be provided by DJ-AK from 2 p.m.-5 p.m.and DJ RUDEBOI from 5-8:10 p.m.

Another downtown restaurant, On the Bricks, will also be open from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday for those celebrating the day’s festivities in the city.
