Hong Kong police investigate alleged hit-and-run involving dead cat in New Territories

Hong Kong police are investigating a suspected hit-and-run incident that may be linked to the death of a cat in the New Territories.

The force said a 43-year-old woman called the police in the early hours of Thursday, alerting them to the injured cat found on Kam Tin Road in the Shek Kong area of Yuen Long at around 9.30pm the day before.

“She suspected the cat had been struck by a [hit-and-run] vehicle and later passed away,” police said.

Officers from the New Territories North traffic unit have been tasked to investigate the case. As of 4pm on Thursday, no arrests had been made in connection with the case, according to the force.

Police appealed to witnesses or anyone with information to contact them at 3661 3800.
