A healthy life is the most important thing to lead a normal life. However, how many of us live a healthy life? According to scientific findings, you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle, a balanced diet and exercise daily. If you don’t have enough time to exercise daily, do not worry. You can complete a week’s exercise in one or two days. This can help you to stay away from more than 200 diseases.

While it is usually recommended to do 150 minutes of brisk exercise per week, a recent research published in the journal, Circulation states that if you do all the exercise on the weekend, the benefits are similar to exercising daily. This type of exercise can protect you from more than 200 diseases, including heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure. The study was reportedly conducted on 89,573 people and discovered that the total duration is more important than regularity. For example, a person exercises for around 150 minutes a week, the same can be achieved in two days and even in one longer session.

Researchers working at Massachusetts General Hospital used wristbands to keep a record of how long the participants exercised and how many days in a week. They monitored the readings for several years. It was found that both regular exercisers and weekend exercisers got the same benefits. The risk of getting affected by high blood pressure was reduced by 20 per cent while the risk of getting diabetes dipped by 40 per cent for both the groups compared to those who did not exercise.

Lead researcher Dr Shaan Khurshid mentioned that the results of this study were surprising. It indicates the total duration of your exercise is more important than the number of days you exercise. In today, fast-paced world people hardly get time to maintain a healthy lifestyle, which is why people nowadays get affected by various diseases.

People who don’t exercise regularly tend to ignore it completely, thinking that a day or two won’t make any difference. But this study suggests that if you don’t have time to exercise daily, even exercising for longer durations on one or two days a week can be enough to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
