WHEELING, W.Va. — If you have a passion for fashion, a new event in Wheeling will provide that during the first week of June.
The volunteer-driven non-profit initiative will run from June 1-7, with events taking place throughout the week. It will conclude with the debut runway fashion show on June 7 at Waterfront Hall.
Founder and Chair Emily Rouse said she’s very optimistic about the inaugural event.
“I think they’re going to see there’s a lot of creativity in Wheeling,” Rouse said. “We have designers, and it takes a whole industry to put this together, so you’ll also see hair and makeup and food being a part of it. So, a lot of different industries coming together to put on this fashion show.”
The clothes and accessories in the show will feature work from nine different local businesses – from new designs to upcycled materials.
Two Times Clothing and Collections will be a part of the event and owner Peyton Bourgeois said it’s a great way to shed light on the local businesses.
“Being able to get put in the spotlight and shed some light that there are fashionistas here in Wheeling and people that care about clothing,” Bourgeois said.
The show is already sold out, but organizers are encouraging people to attend the after-party at Waterfront Hall.
Committee member Spencer Porter said the goal is to celebrate the style, artistry, and culture of the Ohio Valley.
“The fact that this event is three times sold out, I know it is a testament to how many great people are here in Wheeling that want to have fun,” Porter said. “Wheeling is alive, we are reblossoming, and you can see that in the excitement in all of these events.”
