FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT)- There is no age limit on having fun; seniors are showing that is true all week for the international active aging week.
It’s a national week for senior citizens all over the United States, and the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation’s Community Center has lined up a week of outdoor and indoor activities.
The International Council of Active Aging started active aging week back in 2003.The goal is to promote a healthy lifestyle in older adults.
These activities are exclusively open to seniors ages 50 and older. Officials say these events help seniors form relationships as they mingle with people their own age.
“This gets them mingling with people and being able to have some companionship with people during the week,” said Linda Falater, the director of adult programming.
Parks and recreation departments all around the nation are doing similar activities for older people.
Active aging week runs until Friday.
