Hong Kong hiker dies after falling down 5-metre slope in Fanling

A Hong Kong hiker has died after falling down a five-metre (16-foot) slope in Fanling.

Police received a report at 9.24am on Sunday about a hiker who had collapsed and lost consciousness on Wu Tip Shan Road close to Fung Ying Seen Koon, a Taoist temple.

The man in his sixties was rescued and rushed to North District Hospital in Sheung Shui, where he was certified dead at 10.32am.

Another hiker was rescued at around 10.45am from a hillside in Tseung Kwan O after going missing for two days.

The 68-year-old man set off for a hike on Friday last week, but lost contact with his family, who filed a report the next day.

At around 10.30am on Sunday, officers received a report that a person was shouting for help near the Mang Kung Uk lower village public toilet.
