The WWE Hall of Fame is an institution created to honour the past of World Wrestling Entertainment. For over thirty years, WWE has enshrined hundreds of men and women who have had a lasting impact on professional wrestling.
However, it is just not the WWE wrestlers who have had the luck of being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Being a company that is about entertainment just as much as wrestling, WWE has had many A-listers make their way through programming, and they have had a tremendous impact.
These celebrities have made such an impact that they deserve to be in the hall alongside the WWE greats of yesteryear. Below are the top five candidates who should be in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Bad Bunny
Bad Bunny has been one of the greatest revelations for celebrities becoming involved in professional wrestling. The multi-award-winning artist is one of the biggest musical acts in the world, and he is a legitimate fan of the business.
Bunny has mixed it up a few times and, each time, he showed a talent that not many with his experience would. His WrestleMania match was a fantastic introduction, and he followed that up with a Street Fight opposite Damian Priest, which should have main-evented Backlash. He has proven time and time again that he deserves to be in that ring.
Bad Bunny is the type of celebrity that WWE needs. He is a superstar who brings a mainstream focus to the company. He has always been respectful of the business, and it shouldn’t take long for him to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Cyndi Lauper
It is unfathomable to think that one of the cornerstones of the Rock N’ Wrestling Connection has not taken her place in the WWE Hall of Fame. Back when WWE was still finding its footing, manager Lou Albano was cast in Lauper’s massive hit music video “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”. It spawned a working relationship between the two that spanned several music videos, and that relationship soon moved into the world of WWE.
Lauper was a huge get for WWE. She was a huge star and fit perfectly in with their new marketing of flashier wrestlers. It was great to see her mix it up with the likes of Roddy Piper and Lelani Kai.
Lauper was one of the first celebrities to become a part of the show, and she was a huge draw for the first WrestleMania. Her influence at the start of the Golden Era cannot be understated, and it also begs the question as to why she hasn’t been included in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Dennis Rodman
Dennis Rodman was one of the most colourful personalities in NBA history. His talent was unmatched, but it was his personality that made him one of the more memorable players. Everyone tuned in to see what he was going to do next, and this was extended tenfold when he joined the ranks of the NWO.
Joining Hulk Hogan and his compatriots was a great move. Rodman fit the theme of the group perfectly, and it was surprising how quickly he adapted to the world of professional wrestling. He was competent in the ring and slipped into the heel role very well.
Rodman was the arrogant Hollywood character that everyone loved to hate. He was involved in the product and brought a wider audience with him.
These qualifications put him ahead of many celebrities who are in the Hall of Fame. The Worm needs to take his rightful place.
Stephen Amell
Some celebrities’ inductions leave us scratching our heads. They are one-off appearances that are there to get a pop from the crowd or lend credibility to the Hall of Fame. It’s a shameless plug from WWE, and one that takes away from celebrities who deserve to be there, Stephen Amell being one of the biggest examples.
Amell was a television star who made his way to WWE. He was not one to just rest on a throwaway segment, and he was soon goaded into the ring. Once in the ring, Amell showed incredible agility for an actor.
Sure, Cody Rhodes helped him along, but he was able to pull off some great high-flying moves and show a great learning curve. It was a talent that he took to various promotions, even using it to star in his wrestling-based television show.
Stephen Amell has put more effort into wrestling than many who are in the Hall of Fame. It’s a shame that he is absent from it.
Motorhead
Musical acts are an integral part of professional wrestling. They provide the perfect entrance music for the wrestlers and give the fans some great live entertainment when the occasion calls for it. They have become just as important as the wrestlers themselves, and we can look no further than Motorhead to see this influence.
Motorhead has had its hands in the WWE brand for quite some time now. They have provided various entrance themes for Triple H and have performed live dozens of times.
Their brand of rock fit in perfectly with WWE and was a great way to get the crowd pumped up. Motorhead was always a part of the show and, when we look at other musical acts that are in the Hall of Fame, it makes little sense that Motorhead has not been given their plaques.
