Crews worked overnight Sunday to contain a wildfire in Bastrop State Park, cutting fire lines and patrolling nearby neighborhoods for spot fires.
Containment of the Spring Pine Fire grew from 5% late Sunday to 40% by 7 a.m. Monday, according to the Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management. The fire has burned about 40 acres and remains within Bastrop State Park, officials said.
Firefighters used bulldozers overnight to cut containment lines and monitored surrounding areas for embers. No new spot fires were reported.
Traffic disruptions continued into Monday morning. State Highway 21 saw closures tied to fire operations, with eastbound lanes between Loop 150 and Norfolk Drive initially shut down. By 8:15 a.m., one lane had reopened, though officials urged drivers to slow down as crews remained in the area.
The closures began Sunday night, when Highway 21 was fully shut down due to heavy smoke that reduced visibility and created unsafe driving conditions.

Evacuations were ordered Sunday night for the Pines at Bastrop RV Park. Earlier, voluntary evacuations were carried out at Bastrop State Park’s historic cabins and three nearby homes.
No injuries or structural damage have been reported.
The fire was first reported Sunday evening at five to 10 acres before growing to about 40 acres by late Sunday night.
Central Texas remains under elevated wildfire conditions, according to the National Weather Service. Bastrop County is under a burn ban through March 23.
