It’s the end: Ivan Rakitić is ending his career at 37 years old. The former Bundesliga pro, who won the DFB-Pokal with Schalke 04 in 2011, just announced it on his ‘Instagram’ profile.
His best time was as a midfielder after his engagement with Schalke. With FC Barcelona, he won, among other things, the Champions League in 2015, as well as four LaLiga and Spanish Cup titles each. With FC Sevilla, he won the Europa League twice.
In 2015, the long-time national player was also voted Croatia’s Footballer of the Year. Most recently, Rakitić, who played a total of 438 times in LaLiga, played for Hajduk Split in his home country. But now it’s officially over.
