MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A local Consignment Boutique is hosting a free community clothing event next week for women at shelters and other non-profit women organizations in the 901 Now.
“We want women to feel that sense of dignity and feel good,” Jennifer Carlock said. “When they feel good, they do good.”
Pre-loved designer and high-end apparel is what Celery Boutique is known for.
They are also helping women in shelters, rehabilitation homes, and other non-profit organizations dress for success and get back on their feet.
“A lot of these women are on the track to recovery, so they are trying to get jobs, housing and getting their children in schools,” Carelock said. “So, when they have a nice outfit on, they will feel good. It just helps them reach their goals.”
The boutique’s semiannual community clothing event is just one of the ways Celery Boutique helps with those goals.
Owner Jennifer Carelock says the boutique uses unsold items to bless women in need, at no cost.
“They get to shop; it literally gives them a sense of dignity,” Carelock said. “They are just not given clothes; they get to shop for themselves.”
Carelock says the event is Celery’s way of giving back to the community because all women deserve to feel their best
“There are people out here that really do care,” Carelock said. “Just sharing our faith with them and giving them a sense of hope for the future and self-esteem because some may be low, so I want to give that to them and pass it along.”
The next clothing event is Monday, March 17th, at 4 p.m., at 732 E Brookhaven Circle Memphis.
