Verizon Customers Experiencing a Widespread Outage - VVNG.com

VICTOR VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Verizon users across the United States woke up on Monday morning with an SOS mode on their phone.

Mobile phones will sometimes switch to SOS mode when they’re having trouble connecting to a wireless network. As the name suggests, SOS mode means the phone can still make emergency calls, such as 911, by connecting to other carriers.

Customers connected to WiFi can use text messaging and visit social media sites but are unable to make or receive phone calls.

According to reports, more than 100,000 customers are impacted by the current outage. Verizon has 114.2 million subscribers in the United States.

Verizon News acknowledged the outage a couple of hours ago and said, “We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue.”

“I have no service as well and I’m up in Phelan. I can text but no phone calls in or out my boyfriend has service and he’s in Fontana and we are on the same line,” stated Brandy Morris, a member of the Victor Valley News Facebook Group.

At this time, there is no information on the reason for the outage or when the service is expected to be fully restored.
