For 28 years, Ukrainian Fashion Week has served as the country’s primary fashion platform and a key cultural institution influencing the development of the Ukrainian fashion industry.
“Today, fashion – like culture as a whole – has been entrusted with the mission of protecting our identity,” the press release quotes Iryna Danylevska, Founder and CEO of Ukrainian Fashion Week.
Despite the ongoing challenges of full-scale war, Ukrainian Fashion Week continues to support designers, inspire the creative industry, and share Ukraine’s story with the world, the press release says.
Ukrainian designers reinterpret national heritage, demonstrating how a country at war can continue to create, innovate, and assert its cultural identity, the press release says.
“Their creations reflect the emotions of a nation that has been fighting for over three years in a full-scale war to defend its identity and existence. Through the universal language of fashion, they convey the values, spirit, and strength of the Ukrainian nation,” the release writes.
In September 2024, Ukrainian Fashion Week physically returned to Kyiv for the first time since Russia’s full-scale invasion.
