UK strikes Houthis in Yemen for first time since Trump’s return

British fighter jets struck Houthi targets in Yemen on Tuesday evening for the first time since President Trump returned to the White House.

The overnight operation was part of a long-standing campaign against the rebel group since it started attacking ships and killing merchant mariners in the Red Sea in November 2023.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said: “On 29 April 2025, UK forces participated in a joint operation with US forces against a Houthi military target in Yemen..

“Careful intelligence analysis identified a cluster of buildings, used by the Houthis to manufacture drones of the type used to attack ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, located some 15 miles south of Sanaa.”
