House prices grew for the seventh month in a row in March as activity was boosted by buyers rushing to complete transactions before stamp duty thresholds increased at the end of the month.
The average price of a home in the UK increased by 3.9 per cent year-on-year in March to £271,316, unchanged from February, data from the high street lender Nationwide showed.
However, house prices were flat month-on-month as the looming change to stamp duty dissuaded buyers towards the end of the month, as any transactions would be unlikely to be completed before the deadline.
