U.S. Marshals help capture fugitive in Colorado Springs | News

Authorities on Thursday arrested a fugitive who was a known flight risk to police with a history of violent behavior, weapons possession and narcotics use following the deployment of a K-9 unit, according to a blotter post by the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Joshua Kirby, the fugitive, was located by the U.S. Marshals Service as a passenger in a truck driven by a person associated with gang activity and who has White supremacist affiliations. The post said Kirby was also seen with Shawn Agler, who was wanted on felony warrants.

CSPD’s Tactical Enforcement Unit initiated contact with the vehicle to prevent it from leaving. Officers then deployed a sight-and-sound diversionary device and identified themselves as police, according to the post.

Kirby then fled on foot and jumped over a 6-foot fence while Agler surrendered. The post stated that while Kirby was running, he was given K-9 warnings and was being pursued by USMS vehicles.

Authorities deployed K-9 Zev in a “heavily vegetated area.” Kirby eventually was arrested and taken to a hospital for minor injured sustained during the apprehension. No other suspects, police, citizens or K-9 units were injured during the operation, according to the post.
