A Hamilton County EMS ambulance stop on US-27 south took a turn Wednesday afternoon as the patient began wrestling with EMS staffers.
But a Hamilton Co. Sheriff’s Office lieutenant who turned around on the highway to offer assistance proved to be a helpful decision.
HCSO says that the patient, later identified as Christopher Liles, was struggling with the EMS team and was able to break free, running away on foot.
He was caught in the highway’s media and then assaulted the EMS staffers and the HCSO lieutenant.
Liles was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The lieutenant sustained minor injuries.
Liles has been charged with four counts of assault on a first responder, resisting arrest and evading arrest.
