The Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong (TIC) estimates the city will welcome over 800,000 mainland travelers during the Labour Day Golden Week, representing a six percent increase compared to last year. TIC executive director Fanny Yeung Shuk-fan believed that hotel occupancy rates will reach 90 percent, while room prices remain similar to the previous year. Yeung noted that the Council met with industry and government representatives from various departments earlier this month, and a Joint Operations Command Center will be established to monitor passenger flows at border checkpoints and attractions.
