The news comes a week after it emerged that Ineos had walked away early from its sponsorship deal of New Zealand Rugby (NZR).
Ineos blamed “cost-saving measures” across its business for a move that has led to legal action from the governing body.
Last month, Ineos parted ways with four-time Olympic champion Ben Ainslie, having backed the Britannia America’s Cup sailing team since 2018.
Earlier this month, BBC Sport reported that United’s co-owner and Ineos chair, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is considering further redundancies at Old Trafford.
Ineos had already made cuts at United, including 250 staff redundancies, removing Sir Alex Ferguson’s status as a paid ambassador, and ending the policy of free travel for staff to attend finals.
