Madi Scott and Gabby Marcellus are an influencer-event planner duo that had a united mission to get off of the dating apps and create genuine connections.Over dinner one night, they had the idea to create what is now called Single Scene, or as Gabby calls it, ‘the Greenville Love Island or the Greenville Bachelor.’Every other Thursday, there is a new event for singles ages 21 and older in the Upstate to mix and mingle. And they’ve already had some singles meet their significant others in just the two months since their launch. “This girl commented on our story that she met her now boyfriend at the Swanson’s New Year’s cocktail,” Scott said. “So, they’ve been together for, like, a month now.”Their Instagram account has over 2,000 followers, but their reach extends further. “We had somebody get off the plane at Atlanta to come to one of our events, so it’s definitely getting out there, and we have people reaching out asking us to come to Charlotte and stuff like that as well,” Marcellus said. They are currently focused on finding love in Greenville, but they say they may extend their reach in the future. While it is an event for singles, they say anyone is welcome. “Message all your hinge dates. Have your friends come, have your brother come, have your mom, your dad come,” Scott said. “Bring everybody. We need them.”If you’re not ready for a relationship, that’s OK too — they say you can simply choose that colored wristband. “We have a wristband system where we show our dating intentions,” Marcellus said. “Even if you’re not interested in dating seriously and you just want to have a good time, you can get a red wristband and still come out and hang out with us.” Their next event is on Thursday, Feb. 20, at Group Therapy. “Do you want to play Bachelorette for a night?” Marcellus said. “Invite your roster. Let’s all go to Group Therapy.”There is an equal number of tickets for men and women, and you can buy them here.
