I am a New York Times reporter based in Hong Kong, covering the city and the region.
What I Cover
I primarily focus on politics, human rights, business and society. Hong Kong is going through a major political transformation and I am interested in exploring the nuances of how people and businesses are responding to China’s tightened grip over the city. I enjoy writing profiles and features on culture, and also cover news from elsewhere in China and in Asia more broadly.
My Background
I was born and raised in Hong Kong and joined The Times in 2017 after graduating from Columbia University. I also speak Cantonese and Mandarin, and have a deep interest in books and film.
Journalistic Ethics
As a Times reporter, I am committed to upholding the standards of integrity outlined in our Ethical Journalism Handbook. I strive to understand issues from multiple angles, particularly from the individuals most affected, and to give the people I write about a chance to respond. Whenever it is appropriate, I will include links to my source material in my stories. I welcome readers’ feedback and ideas.
