Charlotte SHOUT! is in full swing, and this weekend promises to be a vibrant celebration of fashion and art. Charlotte Today had the pleasure of speaking with designer, Will White (@thatwillwhite on Instagram), who shared exciting details about the upcoming events.
This weekend, Victoria Yards will be buzzing with activity, rain or shine. Will White invites everyone to come out and enjoy the fusion of art and fashion. “We’re going to collaborate and collide the worlds of art and fashion in a really cool way,” he said.
One of the highlights is the “Poppin Tags” event. Will explained his innovative idea of placing blank factory items on a canvas and other inviting muralists to transform them into wearable art. By the end of the event, attendees will witness the creation of a mini collection of wearable art and a unique canvas with negative space resembling fashion items.
Will brought along some items from his personal merch collection, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, and prints. These pieces reflect his bespoke designs and are accessible to everyone.
The CLT Edge Fest is also happening this weekend, featuring events that blend street art and fashion design. “We are fusing those things together right in Victoria Yards,” Will said. It’s an opportunity for the community to experience the creativity and talent of local artists.
For Will, being part of such a collaborative event is incredibly meaningful. “It gives us a sense of community as artists,” he shared. He believes that events like these highlight the amazing talent within the city and encourage people to support local artists.
