The 10 Best Women’s Clothing Brands, According To A Style Editor
I’ve tried more than 100 women’s clothing brands, ranging from high-end, dressy options to affordable, laid-back finds. I’ve tested said clothes across so many different activities, including running, training sessions, office days, nights out, long travel days, and the list goes on. It took a lot of notes, tons of research, a lot of press previews, tons of workouts and saying yes to plans to create a concise list of my all-time favorite brands. The following deliver on style, quality, and durability every single time.
What To Consider
Pricing
When it comes to pricing, the best clothing brands for women can fall anywhere on the spectrum—from super affordable to a bit more splurge-worthy (hi, Alo). It really depends on what you’re looking for and what you expect from the product, whether that’s long-term quality, trendiness, or everyday basics. Some brands might cost more because they use premium fabrics or have a focus on fit and longevity, while others offer trendy pieces at lower prices that are perfect for switching things up. At the end of the day, it’s all about finding what works for your budget and your wardrobe.
Sizing
Sizing can vary a lot from brand to brand, so it’s important to know what kind of fit you’re after before you buy. Some brands run more tailored or slim, while others are all about oversized, relaxed silhouettes. Many offer extended sizing now, but it’s still smart to check size charts and read reviews for insight on how things actually fit. The best sizing really comes down to your personal style, comfort level, and how you want the clothes to look and feel on your body.
Shipping
Shipping policies can make a big difference when you’re shopping for clothes online, especially if you’re ordering from international brands. Some offer free or fast shipping, while others may tack on fees or longer delivery times—so it’s always worth checking before you check out. Keep in mind that if you’re ordering from outside the U.S., you might also have to pay tariffs or import fees, which can add up. It all comes down to how much you’re willing to spend on shipping (and how long you’re willing to wait!).
What They Carry
I’ve highlighted what type of clothes each brand carries below, but make sure you have an idea of what you’re looking for before shopping. If you want trendy athleisure pieces that have fun pops of color and streetwear-worthy styles, head to Alo. On the other hand, if you’re looking for office wear or cute clothes for a night out, Mango or Abercrombie might be your best bet.
How We Chose
As a shopping writer for the past four years, I’ve tested a wide range of clothing—everything from athleisure and streetwear to office staples and summer-ready swimsuits. For every piece I try, I evaluate brands across key factors like versatility, sizing, comfort, style variety, price, and overall shopping experience. I’ve worn these pieces through workouts, errands, travel, and lazy weekends to see how they really hold up in real life. The brands that scored highest across the board are the ones that earned a spot on this list.

When Alo first launched, it genuinely felt like it was filling a gap—finally, activewear that was actually cute and on-trend. It quickly became my go-to for sculpting leggings, supportive sports bras, and sweats I wanted to wear everywhere, not just to work out. Sure, other brands have hopped on the bandwagon since, but Alo has managed to stay at the top by expanding its lineup into a full-on lifestyle brand. We’re talking sneakers, outerwear, spring jackets—you name it. I’ve worn Alo pieces out to dinner and also for lazy Sundays on the couch.
Yes, it’s on the pricier side ($130 for leggings), but the quality, fit, and style make it worth the splurge. Once you invest in a piece, you’ll have it for years. That’s why it’s hands down my favorite brand on this list.
I actually just went to the brand’s fall preview yesterday, and while I can’t spill too much, let’s just say Alo is leaning hard into streetwear—and I’m here for it. Some of the upcoming styles look straight off the runway.
As for what I already own and love: I’m a huge fan of the Airlift Intrigue Bra, which lifts and compresses in all the right places. And I’m currently obsessed with the brand’s new running shoes, the Alo Runners. They have a thick, cushy midsole that gives great support and bounce, plus a breathable mesh upper that keeps things cool. I’ll admit—I was skeptical about a clothing brand making shoes, but these completely changed my mind. I wear them on every run now. Also worth calling out: Alo’s jackets. The brand seriously nails outerwear, especially bombers, which are my favorite thing to throw over leggings and a hoodie on the way to the gym.

Best Women’s Clothing Brand For Activewear
Lululemon
Yes, another activewear-forward brand has claimed a top spot—but can you really blame me? I work at Women’s Health! Lululemon is my go-to for all the activewear essentials. Leggings, sports bras, workout tops—you name it, Lulu makes some of the best, most high-quality versions out there.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Alo for its cute, stylish pieces, but when I’m headed to the gym, I usually reach for Lululemon. It just nails function and comfort. Case in point: the buttery-soft Align leggings. They’re an OG for a reason—perfect for yoga, Pilates, or just lounging on the couch. If you’re looking for more support, Lululemon has plenty of compressive options that are great for runs and intense workouts, too.
And we have to talk about the High-Neck Align Tank—it’s ridiculously soft, offers solid coverage during workouts, and pairs effortlessly with anything. Across the board, Lululemon is all about making pieces that support a fun, active lifestyle. It’s truly a one-stop shop for looking good and feeling good while moving your body

Best Women’s Clothing Brand For Wardrobe Staples
Mango
Lately, every time I ask a friend where they got their outfit, the answer is “Mango”—so I finally hopped on the bandwagon, and honestly, I’m never looking back. Shopping on Mango’s site feels dangerous in the best way—I want to add everything to my cart. I will say, the online selection is way better than what I’ve seen in-store, but it’s 100 percent worth browsing.
Mango is perfect if you’re into elevated basics that work for the office, mix effortlessly with the rest of your wardrobe, and still look polished after hours. Every piece I’ve bought ends up on heavy rotation, which just proves how timeless and versatile the designs are.
Last season, I couldn’t get enough of its winter coats, jackets, and chunky knits. Now, I’m all about the breezy linen suits, flowy maxi dresses, and wide-leg trousers—the ideal summer pant, IMO. Hot take: Mango’s shoes are wildly underrated. I have a pair of leather booties that have carried me through long days and late nights without a single blister.

Best Women’s Clothing Brand For The Office
Quince
Quince is my go-to for timeless leather, cashmere, and silk pieces that look and feel luxe—without the luxury price tag. It also nails the basics, like the Stretchy Cotton Jersey Tee and Cotton Micro-Rib Henley Long Sleeve Tee, which have become weekly staples in my closet. You’d never guess some of these pieces cost under $40. Case in point: the Cashmere Crewneck Sweater. It’s just $50 but looks like something five times the price—and yes, it’s made from real, high-quality cashmere, not synthetic blends.
So how does Quince keep prices so low? Everything ships directly from its factories, cutting out the middlemen, and it uses minimal packaging. That means you’re paying for the actual materials and production (plus tariffs), not all the extra markup

Best Affordable Women’s Clothing Brand
Abercrombie
I’ll admit, Abercrombie fell off for a while, but now it’s back and better than ever, and you can actually shop its website because its pieces don’t break the bank. I find that its clothing is incredibly versatile as it serves up elevated basics that you can pair with pretty much anything. It really does cover just about every dress code, from baggy cutoff shorts under $50 to flattering swimsuits that come in a wide range of sizes. Plus, the brand now offers trendy activewear you’ll actually want to wear to the gym. For example, its YPB SculptLux Flare Leggings, some of our all-time favorite yoga pants, come in at under $50—a total steal compared to the OGs in the industry that charge over $100 for a pair.

Skims
Kim Kardashian’s line covers everything from shapewear and tees to sweats and swimwear—and everything I’ve tried is insanely flattering, smoothing, and soft. It’s easily one of my go-to brands for elevated basics that you can style a million different ways.
The Fits Everybody T-Shirt Bra is a standout. It feels like you’re wearing nothing thanks to the buttery-soft fabric. But the real MVP in my book is the Cotton Jersey Long-Sleeve T-Shirt. I genuinely can’t live without it because it’s perfect for layering or wearing on its own with jeans.
Every piece I’ve worn is super comfortable, true to size, and made with fabrics that stretch just enough, then snap right back into shape after washing. Everything is designed to contour and flatter in all the right places, which makes it super hard not to want one of everything.

Best Women’s Clothing Brand For Trendy Office Wear
J.Crew
ICYDK, J.Crew has a new creative director, Olympia Gayot, and she’s completely transformed the brand. What used to be your standard office-wear destination has evolved into a hub for elevated, on-trend essentials. It gives off Mango vibes, but with a slight edge in quality.
Take the Relaxed Utility Pant, for example—it’s perfectly baggy, super flattering, and made from high-quality cotton that’s ideal for summer. And yes, the site still has an entire section dedicated to blazers (because J.Crew will never forget its roots).
Other standout pieces? The currently on-sale Suede and Leather Shoulder Bag, which I need in my life, and some incredibly chic one-piece swimsuits. They’re perfect for the moms in the group who want to feel stylish and put-together without showing too much skin.

Best Women’s Yoga Brand
Beyond Yoga Beyond Yoga
Calling all yogis—Beyond Yoga is about to become your new go-to for soft, stretchy athleisure. Unlike Lulu, which caters to all kinds of athletes, Beyond Yoga focuses on comfort and slower-paced movement. While its pieces aren’t ideal for high-impact workouts, they’re perfect for pilates or a good stretch session. Plus, the buttery-soft fabrics aren’t just comfy—they’re incredibly flattering (because who doesn’t want to look snatched during their flow?). I wear its Racerback Cropped Tank to the gym all the time, and if you need a new pair of leggings, don’t miss out on the Caught In The Midi High Waisted Legging.

Best Women’s Accessory Brand
Free People
Free People (and its activewear-focused sister brand, FP Movement) is known for making some of the best clothes out there—everything is stylish, high-quality, super soft, and always on-trend. It leans more boho than other brands on this list, but there’s truly something for everyone.
We’re also just as obsessed with its accessories. Think funky shoes, unique bags, statement jewelry, hats, and the cutest bikinis. It’s one of our favorite places to shop for gifts, too, because you can always find something, whether it’s a standout pair of earrings, a cozy beanie, or a cool crossbody bag.
To put it simply,, Free People is a do-it-all brand that has pretty much every clothing item or accessory you could dream up
I used to think of Spanx strictly as a shapewear brand—and don’t get me wrong, it’s still the best in the game—but it’s seriously evolved over the past few years. Now, it offers a full range of pieces designed to flatter and accentuate your curves in the best way. Honestly, it makes some of the most flattering clothing I’ve ever tried.
Beyond its iconic tummy-smoothing shorts and sculpting bodysuits, the Booty Boost leggings deserve a shoutout. They lift and contour like no other leggings I’ve worn and I feel so snatched at the gym. Like most Spanx pieces, they’re slightly compressive, which means they hold you in juuust right without feeling restrictive.
And Spanx didn’t stop at activewear—it’s now making denim, too, with inclusive sizing and built-in shaping. The Stretch Twill Shorts are a standout, featuring the brand’s signature 360-degree smoothing panel for the waist, tummy, and back. Who doesn’t want that kind of support?
