Shoppers are being warned that supermarkets including Asda, Tesco, Aldi, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons will be closing stores for 24 hours on Easter Sunday thanks to England and Wales trading laws.
The law dictates that no store larger than 280 square metres can open on Easter Sunday in England and Wales. The trading laws do not apply in Scotland and Northern Ireland, just England and Wales.
Stores smaller than 280sq m, such as Tesco Metro, Asda Express, Sainsbury’s Local and the likes, can open on Easter Sunday as normal though, although their hours may be reduced.
