Temperatures set to rise still as wildfire warnings issued

Gardeners eyeing up dry ground and parched lawns may be wondering when any rains will arrive — a problem that hasn’t arisen for months or even years in many parts of the country. But after the exceptionally dry March, the outlook is for more dry weather through much of April and even into May as well.

It is not difficult to see what is driving this parched weather — high pressure remains largely in control, clearing away the chances of rain and leaving a long run of blue skies and dazzling sunshine, something the UK hasn’t seen much of in years. But all the sun and lack of rain comes at a price.
