Survey reveals that Suffolk has more sex than Norfolk

But now that competition has travelled from the stands at Carrow Road to the bedroom as a battle of libidos is waged between the Canaries and the Tractor Boys.

A nationwide survey by Perspectus Global has revealed that Suffolk locals are having sex 14 times a month while those in Norfolk are intimate slightly less at 13 times a month.

As a result, Nelson’s County was named as the country’s third most sexually active region with second place going to its slightly naughtier neighbour Suffolk.

The Cotswolds – the picturesque backdrop of Jilly Cooper’s raunchy novels – took first place, with people making love 15 times a month.

On average, the survey found that those living in rural areas are having the most sex at 11 times a month, with those in cities enjoying each other’s company eight times a month.

Despite this, Suffolk – famously without cities – has still beaten out Norfolk for the second-place spot.

Leading UK sex therapist and former NHS counsellor Natasha Silverman says that the quiet life of more rural areas of the UK gives locals more room to “think erotically”.

She added that those living in the city often find it more difficult to “slow down and be more present”.

The data comes after Love Honey, the UK’s most popular online shop for buying adult toys and lingerie, crowned Wymondham as the “sexiest town” in Norfolk.

It ranked number 22 out of the 907 places considered.

But Norfolk beat out its neighbouring county with Suffolk’s raunchiest town being Stowmarket, coming in at number 48.

Comparatively, Norwich was ranked as the 228th most sensual place, while Ipswich weighed in at number 497.

Carterton, in Oxfordshire – which includes parts of the Cotswolds – was dubbed the “sexiest” town in the country.
