THE HAITIAN TIMES: What should we be looking out for this coming spring in terms of fashion?
ESTHER LAMOUR: You’re going to see a lot of colors right now. The trend right now is leopard. It’s leopard and burgundy. But you’re going to see a lot of colors. You’ll see a lot of orange, purple, lavender and yellow. We’re also seeing the return of blazers and tighter jeans than we’ve been used to.
Are there any specific trends we can look out for?
Gloves are back, but sheer ones and you can get that anywhere. You don’t have to break the bank. Look for them in places like Claire’s or in the clearance section. Some other trends are fishnet stockings, cowboy boots and colorful suits.
What are some tips for our readers?
You don’t have to buy everything. Shop your own closet. Mix the old with the new. A lot of men are wearing what women traditionally wore and vice versa, but they’re adding their own masculine or feminine edge to it. Everything is unisex. Also, get some statement pieces to avoid looking like everyone else.
What is your fashion pet peeve?
My pet peeve is shopping for everything at one store or shopping off of the mannequin. Add your own style and have fun.
