Todmorden in the Pennines isn’t the sort of place you’d expect to find UFOs choosing to visit but they seem to have chosen the old industrial town as their hotspot as there have been many sightings over the years
The small market town of Todmorden in the Pennines isn’t exactly where you’d expect to be the UK’s UFO hotspot… but that’s exactly what it is. For some reason, aliens have decided that it is there, in the old industrial northern town, known for its cotton mills, where they will often pay us visits.
Numerous sightings have occurred in Todmorden, some of them very, very creepy indeed. In 1980, the body of coal miner Zigmund Adamski, from the nearby town of Tingley, was found on a pile of coal in Todmorden seven days after he went missing.
His head, shoulders and neck had mysterious burns. To this day, the source of the burns hasn’t been identified.
Immediately, Todmorden residents put the blame on aliens. Police Constable Alan Godfrey claimed that Adamski looked as though he had been “frightened to death.”
The press asked the now-retired chief copper if he himself thought it was aliens and he said: “I am open-minded. I can’t rule it out.”
Six months later, Alan had a UFO experience of his own. He was responding to calls regarding cattle wandering around a local council estate and went to check out what was going on.
There, he saw what he described as a “rotating diamond-shaped object” shining a very bright light above the road.
He tried to radio for help, but his police equipment didn’t work. The object suddenly vanished.
That is when things get freaky.
Alan found himself all of a sudden, 30 yards down the road. His shoe was split open and he had a red itchy mark on his foot.
He looked at his watch and to his horror, half an hour had passed since he saw the UFO. He had absolutely no memory of it at all.
Later, Alan went under hypnosis to try to remember what happened in that half an hour. He did and he might have wished he hadn’t.
He claimed that he had a memory of being inside a room with beings surrounding him which appeared to be aliens. They were medically examining him.
Following his own UFO account and claims that aliens may have abducted Zigmund, Alan says that he was introduced to a man who claimed to be “from the ministry”.
He recalls that the man made him swear he would not tell anyone about what he saw and the man turned up to tell him this several times.
Eventually, Alan politely told the ministry man to “clear off”. He believes the man was from MI5.
Godfrey then claims to have seen this man on a few more occasions until he eventually confronted him in a pub, telling him to “clear off.” He never saw the man again but later shared that he believed this mystery man had been an MI5 Agent.
Sightings have continued over the years in Todmorden and Alan has now published a book of his own experience with aliens in the area.
