In summary
- 2026 range may not include Galaxy S26
- Pro model tipped instead
- Edge to take place of Plus
An intriguing new report suggests that Samsung may doing away with the Samsung Galaxy S26 in its forthcoming flagship smartphone range – kind of.
Over on Android Authority, an exploration is underway of an internal One UI 8 build, and mentions have been discovered of Samsung’s 2026 flagship Galaxy S range.
What’s fascinating here is that there is no regular Samsung Galaxy S26 to be found among the model names. Only a Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Samsung’s known Edge
While that sounds like a complete overhaul of Samsung’s lead smartphone range, there’s a chance it’s more of a strategic reshuffle.
The biggest change here may still be the removal of the Samsung Galaxy S+ range in favour of the new Edge line. That, however, has already been heavily tipped elsewhere.
While the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge hasn’t been pulling up any trees (either critically or commercially), its successor is widely expected to replace a prospective Galaxy S26 Plus.
That brings us to the headline news, whereby the Samsung Galaxy S26 is ‘replaced’ by a new Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro model.

Pros and cons
The cynical reading here is that Samsung is simply playing semantics, adding the ‘Pro’ to a quite normal Galaxy S26 update in a bid to attract interest, and possibly to justify a price hike.
It seems more likely to us that Samsung is going to give its baseline model a bit of a makeover to justify that Pro name – and, yes, a likely price hike. Perhaps we can look forward to a refreshed design and an upgraded camera, two things the baseline Galaxy S-range is arguably overdue for.
Whatever the case, the Samsung Galaxy S26 line-up looks set to be rather different to this year’s sprawling Galaxy S25 offering.
