Scotland’s summer tour of the Pacific ends at Eden Park on Friday as Gregor Townsend’s side take on Samoa.
The tourists made a winning start to their trip to the Southern Hemisphere with a tight victory over the Maori All Blacks at the start of the month but came undone last weekend in a 29-14 defeat at the hands of Fiji.
The Scots will look to bounce back this weekend against Samoa, and Townsend has admitted they must win for their summer tour to be deemed a success.
That task will be made harder as, following Darcy Graham’s call-up, nine of Scotland’s key players are part of the British & Irish Lions squad in Australia – with Ewan Ashman and Rory Sutherland set to head to Australia to join Andy Farrell’s group after Friday’s game.
Samoa may lack the attacking quality that helped Fiji to a famous victory last weekend but their athleticism, physicality and flair will make them a threat to a Scottish team lacking in star power.
