MANILA, Philippines — Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte was issued a travel clearance to 16 countries and one special administrative region from March 20 to May 10, 2025, an official of the House of Representatives said on Tuesday.
Secretary-General Reginald Velasco said Duterte was set to travel to People’s Republic of China, its special administrative region Hong Kong; Malaysia, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, the US, Australia, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy and Singapore.
Velasco told The Manila Times in a phone interview that there was “nothing wrong” with Duterte’s itinerary since it was being held during the time Congress was in recess and that he would use his personal funds for his trip.
He added that some lawmakers have been issued the same travel clearance for multiple countries.
A travel clearance was issued to the lawmaker from March 12 to April 15 on a “personal trip” to The Netherlands and Japan.
The younger Duterte is expected to visit his father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently being detained at the Scheveningen Prison after he was arrested by the International Criminal Court on crimes against humanity.
His sister, Vice President Sara Duterte, is at The Hague building up the legal team for her father.
