U.S. 95-ALT is expected to see lane closures and travel delays in sections between Silver Springs and Yerington soon.
Following the rail bed replacement for Union Pacific train tracks in September, the highway approaches to those tracks will need to be repaved.
The lane closures will be in place from December 2 until December 6, from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. daily.
This will take place in two specific locations:
- U.S. 95A near Sierra Way north of Yerington
- U.S. 95A just south of Fort Churchill Road near Silver Springs
The plan calls for the lanes to be reduced in only one location at a time, and directions of traffic will be alternated through the work zones.
Minimal travel delays are to be anticipated, but NDOT officials want to remind drivers that lane and shoulder closures are also in place on nearby highways, including State Route 339 south of Mason.
They are asking all drivers to plan ahead, and use caution when driving safely through work zones.
