Quantum Computing Stocks Jump On D-Wave, Carahsoft Partnership

Quantum computing stocks led by D-Wave Quantum (QBTS) rose on Wednesday continuing their roller coaster ride in 2025. D-Wave Quantum announced a partnership with Carahsoft Technology aimed at increasing adoption of its quantum computing solutions with the U.S. government.

Carahsoft operates a computer reseller network targeting federal agencies. Under the agreement, Carahsoft will serve as D-Wave’s Master Government Aggregator, making the company’s quantum computing technologies available to the public sector through its reseller partners and NASA Solutions.

Quantum Computing Stocks: Microsoft Cloud Program

In other quantum computing news, Microsoft (MSFT) on Tuesday announced the launch of Quantum Ready, a new program from its Azure cloud computing business.

All the big cloud computing services, including Amazon.com (AMZN) and Alphabet‘s (GOOGL) Google, rent out access to quantum computing services, primarily to researchers.

In addition, Microsoft said it will be will also be a leading partner with the United Nations’ “International Year of Quantum.”

Quantum Stocks: Nvidia Event

Further, Nvidia (NVIDIA) said it will host a quantum computing event during its annual GTC conference on March 20. Nvidia stock is up about 2% in 2025 after surging last year.

Quantum computing stocks fell last week after Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang claimed the technology is far off from commercial usage. Huang said that the technology won’t be “very useful” for 15 to 30 years.

Quantum computing would pose serious competition to Nvidia in processing artificial intelligence workloads. Nvidia is the dominant supplier of AI chips but also is developing quantum technology.

Also, quantum stocks rallied in December after Alphabet’s Google announced the Willow quantum computing chip. Google has been a leader in quantum research.

Advances in quantum computing are expected to surpass today’s electronic-chip-based supercomputers. Quantum computing works on a subatomic level and uses exotic technologies, like supercold superconductor chips. Quantum computing’s ultimate benefit is that it solves problems too complex for today’s classical computers.
