The Google Pixel 9a is almost here, and while Google has insisted there will be no pre-order deals for its latest mid-range smartphone, UK retailers would beg to differ.
Undoubtedly the best deal that we’ve come across (so far) is this one from estimable UK retailer John Lewis. It gets you the Google Pixel 9a for the usual £499 asking price, but with a free case thrown in.
All you need to do is apply the promo code PIXELCASE9 at the checkout phase.
That’s not all that this Pixel 9a deal has to offer. John Lewis will also throw in a bonus £200 discount when you trade in a Pixel phone, on top of the value of your phone.
Don’t currently have a Pixel phone to trade in? Don’t worry – the retailer will still offer a £150 bonus for any eligible non-Pixel phone that you have.
Add that to the official Google Pixel 9a Phone Case, which is word £29.99, and you have yourself a fantastic Pre-order deal.

Best Pixel 9a pre-order contract deal
That’s all well and good if you’re happy paying for your Pixel 9a up front, and have an existing SIM contract to slot in. But what about if you’re looking to buy on contract?
This Vodafone 5GB Xtra plan looks to be the best in terms of pure money-saving potential. It gets you 5GB of monthly data for £18 a month, with a minimal up front payment of £20.
You’ll save a whopping £576 on airtime with this 36 month contract, working out to a discount of £16 a month.
You can also trade in your old phone for a further saving of up to £292, either against your airtime, as credit to your Vodafone account, or as a bank transfer.

What’s going on with the Pixel 9a release date?
We’re glad to be able to offer some good news concerning the Pixel 9a, because the launch has been somewhat disrupted.
Google initially announced the Pixel 9a back in March, with pre-order dates seemingly set for March 19 and availability for the following week.
However, Google was forced to delay the rollout due to an unspecified ‘component quality issue’ affecting a small number of handsets.
Google claims that this has been addressed, and the phone is now due to arrive from 10 April – that’s next Thursday. We’ll be bringing your our verdict around that time, so stay tuned.
