PATA Networking Event Highlights Hong Kong’s New Tourism Industry 2.0 Strategy

Hong Kong’s tourism sector is gearing up for a significant shift with the launch of the “Development Blueprint for Hong Kong’s Tourism Industry 2.0.”

This transformative plan was unveiled by Angelina Cheung, JP, Commissioner for Tourism, during the PATA Power of Networking and Luncheon 2025, which took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) on February 20.

The event, organized by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) in collaboration with Exhibition Group and Plaza Premium Group, attracted over 20 influential leaders from Hong Kong SAR and the Greater Bay Area (GBA). Notable attendees included representatives from the Tourism Commission, Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau; the Macao Government Tourism Office; the Hong Kong Tourism Board; Shangri-La Group; Trip.com; and the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, among others.

A key moment of the event was the presentation of the “Development Blueprint for Hong Kong’s Tourism Industry 2.0” by Ms. Angelina Cheung, JP, Commissioner for Tourism, HKSAR Government. This comprehensive plan outlines Hong Kong’s ambition to strengthen its status as a leading global tourism hub by merging tourism with culture, sports, ecology, and large-scale events. Following her speech, Ms. Cheung took part in a fireside chat and an engaging Q&A session.

The occasion was further highlighted by the attendance of Mr. Soon-Hwa Wong, PATA Ambassador for Greater China, emphasizing PATA’s ongoing dedication to its members in Hong Kong SAR and the Greater Bay Area.

After the event, participants attended the grand opening of the Hong Kong Holiday & Travel Expo 2025, a B2C exhibition showcasing more than 300 booths. The four-day expo broke attendance records, drawing over 250,000 visitors, marking a 27% increase in foot traffic compared to the previous year.
