Ovivo UK’s brief is to design, manufacture, and install advanced filtration systems to help with seawater abstraction for the plant.

The seawater will be used to cool the power station’s steam condensers before the water is safely returned to the sea.

Ovivo Energy Division vice president Mike Heelas said the contract win would enable the firm to strengthen its supply chain and invest in young people.

“The scheme marks a transformative chapter for Ovivo UK, driving company and regional growth, and in turn creating a variety of specialist jobs in design, engineering, manufacturing and installation.

“Sizewell C will be instrumental in strengthening our supply chain and community ties. A key aspect to this scheme is that it also enables us to invest in young talent – developing future ‘subject matter experts’.”

Earlier this year, Sizewell C said total regional investment now amounts to £330m and involves 77 local suppliers.

The £38bn nuclear project says it will deliver 70% of its construction value to UK businesses and invest £4.4bn in the East of England.

Sizewell C joint managing director Nigel Cann said: “When the government gave the green light for Sizewell C in the summer, it was not only a significant moment for Britain’s energy security, it was also a big boost for the British and local businesses who’ll play an integral part in delivering this project.

“Ovivo are another great example of how we have the expertise right here on our doorstep – a regional business steeped in experience, who have worked previously on both Sizewell B and Hinkley Point C.

“This contract will create more jobs, and gives the certainty to our suppliers to continue to invest in people and innovation for the benefit of future projects.”
