New Zealand shares fell on Monday ahead of a key central bank policy decision this week after a long U.S. weekend, with investors jittery over U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs set to take effect on August 1.

The S&P/NZX 50 index NZ50G edged 0.2% lower as of 2305 GMT, while Wall Street futures pointed to a cautious start with the S&P 500 ES1! and Nasdaq futures NQ1! both down almost 0.3%.

Australian markets will resume trading on Monday, with the S&P/ASX 200 index XJO having closed up 0.1% at a record 8,603 points in the previous session.
