The NTR Commissionerate police recovered 372 stolen and missing mobile phones, worth more than ₹50 lakh, and returned them to the owners. The cybercrime police has so far recovered 2,205 mobile phones.
“Experts in cybercrime recovered the stolen mobile phones from Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala and other neighbouring States,” said Police Commissioner S.V. Rajasekhar Babu, who handed over the phones to the owners, here on Sunday.
Speaking at a press conference later, the Police Commissioner said that by using the latest technology the cybercrime police recovered the missing and stolen mobile phones. “If the victims approach the police concerned immediately after the theft, the cybercrime teams will launch an investigation via Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal,” the Police Commissioner added.
“Police asked the service providers of various companies to block services to 2,599 stolen and missing phones. We will recover more mobile phones soon,” Mr. Rajasekhar Babu said. Meanwhile, the owners who received their lost mobile phones thanked the police for tracing and returning their phones.
Deputy Commissioners of Police Gowtami Sali, K. Tirumaleswar Reddy, K.G.V. Saritha, A.B.T.S. Udaya Rani were also present during the occasion.
