NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans Fashion Week officially kicks off Friday, Sept. 12, with a special exhibit and fashion show at the Old Ursuline Convent Museum.
The show will feature some of Saints owner Gayle Benson’s favorite fashions, along with a fashion presentation from two French Quarter stores, Fleur de Paris and Italy Direct.
Benson’s sense of fashion is iconic. So, have you ever wanted a glimpse inside her closet?
“This is a collaboration between New Orleans Fashion Week and the Old Ursuline Convent, who has put together a beautiful collection of Ms. Benson’s personal Sunday best,” Samantha Diane, assistant producer of New Orleans Fashion Week, said.
Benson’s outfits are part of the exhibit: “Sunday Best: Faith, Family, and Fashion.”
“This is the first time you’ll be able to see Ms. Gayle Benson’s collection,” Diane said.
“Ms. Benson has worn all these outfits at different events throughout her lifetime. She has a stunning sense of style and very put-together. She represents the epitome of dressing well,” she said.

Some of Benson’s outfits on display are the dress she wore when she met Pope Francis, the dress she wore when she renewed her vows to Tom Benson and the dress she wore to Drew Brees’ daughter’s baptism.
When you visit this exhibit, you’ll also get to see photos of Benson wearing these outfits.
“It is kind of like you get to step in her life and experience those moments with her,” Diane said.
The Gayle Benson exhibit will be at the Old Ursuline Convent Museum through Dec. 20.
