Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made significant trades in several technology stocks between mid-December and mid-January, including Apple, Nvidia, Amazon, and Alphabet.
According to a Periodic Transaction Report, Pelosi, who presently serves as the representative for California’s 11th congressional district, made her largest trade of the month on the last trading day of 2024 when she sold 31,600 shares of Apple common stock for between $5 million and $25 million.
Pelosi and her husband, Paul Pelosi, have been heavily involved in the equity markets. Some claim that her position as a lawmaker gives her an advantage.
Among other transactions, Pelosi bought 50 call options in Vistra Energy Corp. and exercised 140 call options in Palo Alto Networks worth $1 million to $5 million.
Legislators are prohibited from using their congressional knowledge for personal benefit by a 2012 law, which also mandates that they or their family members report stock transactions within 45 days.
Additionally, she bought 50 call options in Alphabet Class A stock and Amazon.com with a $150 strike price and an expiration date of January 16, 2026, respectively. These purchases, which took place on January 14, 2025, ranged in value from $250,001 to $500,000. Pelosi made between $1 million and $5 million from selling 10,000 shares of common stock in NVIDIA Corporation.
She also bought 50 call options with a strike price of $80 and an expiration date of January 16, 2026, and exercised 500 call options on Nvidia worth between $500,001 and $1 million
Apple and Google took TikTok out of their app stores following a law that mandates China’s ByteDance divest the social media platform or face an outright ban in the United States.
