Recent incidents of mobile phone explosions have raised safety concerns. While essential to daily life, mobile phones—especially those with lithium-ion batteries—can overheat, swell, or explode due to several factors like overcharging, battery defects, or heat exposure.
A young man was seriously injured when his mobile phone exploded in his pocket while he was riding his motorbike in Sarangpur of Rajgarh district in Madhya Pradesh. The explosion caused him to lose his balance and fall from his bike on the highway, resulting in severe injuries.
The victim, 19-year-old Arvind, was returning to his village, Nainwada, after buying vegetables from a nearby market when the incident occurred near the toll booth. The force of the explosion caused significant injury to his groin. He also sustained a serious head injury.
Following immediate medical attention at Sarangpur Hospital, Arvind was transferred to a hospital in Shajapur due to the severity of his condition.
Cause Of The Explosion
According to Arvind’s brother, the mobile phone was a recent purchase and had been charged overnight. Arvind had left the phone in his pocket while he went to buy vegetables, and the explosion happened approximately an hour later on his way home.
Doctor’s Statement
Dr Nain Nagar of Sarangpur Civil Hospital, who initially treated Arvind, confirmed the nature of his injuries and the subsequent transfer to Shajapur District Hospital for further treatment. He stated that Arvind is now out of danger.
Dr Nagar also took the opportunity to advise the public to exercise caution while carrying mobile phones.
