Michelle McManus to appear on RuPaul's Drag Race UK

Michelle McManus will be a guest judge on the new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, which will return on September 25.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’s Facebook page announced the news earlier today.

They wrote: “The mother of pop has arrived! It’s Michelle McManus. All new Drag Race UK coming soon to iPlayer.”

Other celebrity guests announced for the new season are TV personality David Potts, Tracey Beaker star Dani Harmer, singer Charlotte Church, actor and presenter Shobna Gulati and Eastender legend Diane Parish.

The hit series sees 12 drag queens compete in challenges, including dancing, live comedy and sewing, while seeking to be crowned the country’s next drag superstar.

Michelle will appear in an upcoming episode, where she will take part in a makeover challenge. It will see the contestants tasked with giving surprise guests a drag makeover.

McManus, who hails from Baillieston, rose to fame after she won the second and final series of Pop Idol in 2003.

In January 2004, McManus made history when she became the first Scottish female artist to debut atop the UK Singles Chart with her debut tune, All This Time.

She currently presents the afternoon radio show broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland and is the host of The Entertainment Mix which airs on BBC Scotland.
